Israeli occupation forces arrested journalist Nawaf Al-Amer Tuesday, 28 June 2011 from his home in the city of Nablus in the West Bank.



According to the available information to the Institute that  the Israeli occupation forces has surrounded home of journalist Nawaf al-Amer, who is coordinator of Al-Quds space programs in the West Bank, at about 2:30 am Tuesday, then  they knocked on the door of his house with great violence , after that they searched the house  and detained its inhabitants  in a room, and after they completed the inspection they  took Al_ Amer , later they inform his family that he is detained  in Hwara prison.



 Palestinian Institute for communication and development condemns the arrest of al-Amer and the circumstances that accompanied his arrest, he asserts that the arrest of journalists and targeted with death and injury is as a systematic approach to the behavior of the occupation forces in dealing with the Palestinian journalists.



As the Institute is demanding the immediate release of journalist Al_Amer, it urges the International Federation of Journalists and regional associations and human rights organizations to intensify their efforts to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to stop its organized  violations for  the human right of  freedom of opinion and expression and the organized targeting for journalists and press workers, and work to expose these violations in a wider range.



 The Institute renews his repeated calls for the international community to act to protect civilians in the Palestinian territories in general and workers in the field of journalism and the media in particular, because they are the most vulnerable of  being targeted by the nature of their work.
